Reiki is a holistic and non-invasive treatment modality that leverages the body's natural ability to heal. Reiki treatment is a relaxing and peaceful experience that can be used on it's own, as a complimentary treatment to standard western medical treatments, and/or in conjunction with other alternative healing modalities. Rooted in Eastern medical philosophy, Reiki promotes and naturally supports healing of all physical, mental and emotional conditions.
The short answer is yes. In fact, many of the world's leading hospitals and cancer treatment centers regularly use Reiki in conjunction with standard medical treatments. Organizations such as Mayo Clinic, MD Anderson, Memorial Sloan Kettering, Cleveland Clinic and many more offer Reiki treatment as a complementary treatment to patients being treated for a myriad of disease. Of course, the only way to know for sure if Reiki works is to try it for yourself!
Animals
The first session for your animal will begin with your practitioner’s arrival and set up. Feel free to have your animal’s favorite toy, snuggly, bed, blanket and/or treats available. Feel free to have anything that will help your animal feel comfortable on hand. We will then provide your animal with ample time to become comfortable with your practitioner while we review your intake paperwork and discuss, in detail, why you are seeking treatment and what your goals for treatment are for your animal. Once your animal is completely comfortable, then and only then, treatment will begin. Your animal decides if treatment will be hands on or hands off, how long treatment will last and where treatment takes place. Your practitioner will follow your animal’s lead at all times. Treatment includes an energy scan and various Reiki hand gestures and/or placements. Following treatment, we will discuss any post treatment recommendations.
Please understand that there is no set length of treatment for animals. Every animal is different and no two sessions are alike. Your practitioner will always allow the animal to take the lead on how long treatment lasts. It is impossible to offer an average or estimate of how long your animal’s treatment will be.
Humans
Your first session will begin with your practitioner's arrival and set up. Feel free to bring your favorite blanket, relaxation audio (meditation, music, nature sounds, etc.), candles, incense or crystals. You will first have a detailed intake meeting to discuss your reasons for seeking treatment and what your treatment goals are. Following the intake meeting, you will lay down, fully clothed, on the table. Your practitioner will take a moment to prepare for treatment and then treatment will begin. Treatment can be hands on or hands off depending on your preference and will last about 40 minutes. Following treatment, we will discuss your experience and any post- treatment recommendations.
No two Reiki treatment sessions are the same. Every being, whether human or animal, experiences Reiki differently because we all have our own unique energy. That said, based on my experience as both a practitioner and a client, here is a list of things you may, or may not, experience:
Humans
Animals
Both! I offer individual sessions for both animals and humans, as well as, a combo session where both you and your animal(s) can receive treatment during the same visit.
Reiki works the same way, but usually quicker, on animals as with humans! Animals, generally speaking, do not have the psychological or energetic blockages that most humans do. Consequently, Reiki is able to be received more easily and integrated more quickly than with humans. Animals' energy systems differ from species to species and, as a certified Animal Reiki Practitioner, I have the training to assure that I am treating your individual animal with knowledge and care, resulting in the best treatment possible for each animal.
I am a certified Reiki I and Animal Reiki Practitioner. In the state of Maryland there is no specific license for Reiki practitioners. I am fully insured.
I follow the current CDC recommendations when it comes to COVID-19 exposure. In addition, I will where a mask and use hand sanitizer throughout your appointment. My clients can choose to wear a mask or not. If you have COVID-19 or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 within the last 14 days please refrain from treatment.
